Dear HCP experts:
I wonder if there's an open source e-Prime program that can replicate the movie watching task of 7T MR. Or could you tell me more about the workflow of the Movie-watching task? For example, does each subject has to watch four movies in a task, or the subject just have to pick one of the four movies at random?
Thank you.

Hi Ruoming,
Every subject watched 4 different sets of movie clips (MOVIE1-MOVIE4). I am not aware of an open source version of E-Prime.

Best,
Jenn

Dear Dr. Elam,
Thank you for your reply!
Sorry my previous question was confusing. I was wondering if the HCP has any existing E-prime script for running the HCP 7T movie-watching task? If so, could I request the sharing of that script?
Thank you!

Hi Ruoming,
We don't have an EPrime script, but we do have mp4s of the movies available (under 7T Movie Stimulus files on https://db.humanconnectome.org/data/projects/HCP_1200) and semantic analysis notations (7T Movie Resources on the same page).

Dear Dr. Elam,
Thank you for your reply!
I would like to write a simple E-prime script by myself to replay the movie-watching task. I want to consult you again about few experimental details.
As you mentioned in your email, every subject watched 4 different sets of movie clips(MOVIE1-MOVIE4). For example, should there be a slide between MOVIE1 and MOVIE4 indicating that the subject is abhout to watch the next set of movie clips. If so, how does one slide stay?
If there is no prompt slide, there will be a 40 seconds of "REST" (20s after the end of the last clips of movie set and 20s before the start of the first clip of the next movie set)between the two movie sets.
Thank you!

Hi Ruoming,
In HCP-YA 7T, we ran separate fMRI scans for each of the 4 Movie mp4s with alternating phase encoding directions (tfMRI_MOVIE1_7T_AP, tfMRI_MOVIE2_7T_PA, tfMRI_MOVIE3_7T_PA, tfMRI_MOVIE4_7T_AP). You might find that concatenating all 4 sets of movie clips (over 1 hour scan time) might be hard on your subjects. I think it matters less if there is a prompt slide or not between sets of movie clips as the subjects don't have to prepare to respond to the stimuli.
