Hello everyone,

I was just trying to download the example data for the HCP pipeline following the instructions here https://github.com/Washington-University/HCPpipelines/wiki/Installation-and-Usage-Instructions but unfortunately it doesn't seem to work.

I've tried the link https://db.humanconnectome.org/app/action/ChooseDownloadResources?project=HCP_Resources&resource=SampleData&filePath=HcpPipelinesExampleDataGDC.zip and installed the  IBM Aspera Connect plugin in Firefox/Ubuntu and Chrome/MacOS  but neither works. A IBM Aspera Connect window just opens but nothing else ever happens and the warning (Plugin Required!) does not disappear .

Is that related to the closure that was recently discussed?

The link under ConnectomeDB (http://humanconnectome.org/documentation/connectomeDB/downloading/installing-aspera.html) also doesn't point to anything anymore., so I am not sure how to debug this.

Can anyone advise me how to download the data?

Best wishes,

Alex

Hi Joern,

I have the zip package available at https://db.humanconnectome.org/app/action/ChooseDownloadResources?project=HCP_Resources&resource=SampleData&filePath=HcpPipelinesExampleDataGDC.zip downloading on Firefox with Aspera Connect version 4.2.12 (780). I will send you a link to that Mac version uploaded to Box for you to try. It might be that our older Aspera isn't working with newer versions of Aspera Connect. We've also had trouble with Ubuntu/Firefox, but Ubuntu/Chrome is working.

It also could be a connection issue. See the second link below for some advice with that.

Here's the correct location for the Installing Aspera wiki is here:

There's also this Aspera FAQ that might help with connection issues:

We also will have to move the HCP Pipelines Example Data Resources to the HCP Young Adult 2025 project in BALSA before ConnectomeDB shutters. However, although we are exploring alternatives for fast data transfer, for now, the downloading will still be through Aspera and you will need to get Connect working.

Hey Jenn,

My apologies I was under the impression that just installing the plug-in also works. After following the instructions here (https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/aspera-connect/4.2.x?topic=connect-installation-linux) and additionally installing ibm-aspera-connect on my computer, it started to download and it just finished :)

For those after me, I installed it via:

tar -zxvf ibm-aspera-connect_4.2.16.884-HEAD_linux_x86_64.tar.gz
bash ibm-aspera-connect_4.2.16.884-HEAD_linux_x86_64.sh

Thanks a lot! The docs pointed me to the right solution.

Best,

Joern
