Postdoctoral Associate Position
Department of Psychiatry | Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM)
New York, NY, USA
The Department of Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medicine is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Associate to help lead projects using precision functional MRI and targeted neuromodulation (TMS) to study within-person brain–symptom dynamics and mood state switches in unipolar and bipolar depression. This position will involve dense longitudinal data collection and analysis, individualized network mapping for intervention targeting, and integration of multimodal clinical/behavioral streams (e.g., EMA/wearables).
Primary responsibilities
· Supervise and mentor research assistants conducting recruitment, clinical assessments, and data collection
· Oversee weekly longitudinal acquisition of fMRI and clinical measures (protocol adherence, data integrity)
· Preprocess/analyze neuroimaging data on a rolling basis to support individualized (within-person) brain–symptom modeling
· Apply PFM methods to generate individualized brain network maps for personalized intervention targeting
· Contribute to design/implementation of individualized neuronavigation procedures to guide TMS interventions
· Integrate imaging, stimulation, wearable, and EMA data into multimodal datasets
· Disseminate findings via manuscripts and national/international presentations
· Participate in grant development and support opportunities for independent research aligned with the project
Minimum qualifications
· PhD in neuroscience, psychology, biomedical engineering, or a related discipline
· Applicants must submit a letter of recommendation from their current supervisor (PI/mentor/chair) addressing qualifications, research experience, and suitability for the position
Preferred qualifications
· Strong publication record in human neuroimaging (ideally functional connectivity analysis / precision fMRI)
· Proficiency with neuroimaging tools (e.g., FSL, FreeSurfer, Connectome Workbench) and programming (Python, MATLAB, and/or R)
· Experience with TMS, DTI, fMRI, PFM, wearable devices, and/or EMA is highly desirable
· Strong leadership/organization/communication skills; experience supervising junior staff
· Professionalism and comfort working with individuals experiencing severe mood symptoms (treatment-resistant depression, bipolar disorder)
Appointment, location, salary
· Based at Weill Cornell Medicine, 1165 York Ave, New York, NY; expected transition to 575 Lexington Ave by end of calendar year
· Start date: ideally April 1, 2026 (or as soon as feasible thereafter)
