Dear HCP users,

I am currently working with the HCP Aging Release 2 dataset, specifically the fMRI data from the Face-Name Memory task. Looking through the associated behavioral data, I noticed that the non-imaging CSV files only contains the participant response variables for each item.

From the task protocols (specifically: "columns-dictionary-FACENAME.csv"), it looks like additional behavioral information is collected during the task. Are there other measures, such as reaction times or trial-level behavioral data, available for HCP Aging Release 2, or were only the retrieval variables released?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Best,

Feli

Hi Feli,

In the unprocessed tfMRI package, PsychoPy acquisition files and a set of FSL-style “EVs” (explanatory variables) are available that could be used to implement a particular GLM in the {Subject_ID}_V1_MR/unprocessed/tfMRI_[TASK_phaseencodingdirection]/LINKED_DATA/PSYCHOPY directory.

For each scan, the {TASK}_{SubjectID}_A_run1_wide.csv wide format PsychoPy output file (where each row is a trial, listing onset times, responses, reaction times, etc.) describes task parameters (event timing information and performance information) that can be used in various tfMRI analysis packages. A brief description of the column variables in those files can be downloaded as dictionary CSVs per task at this wiki page: https://wiki.humanconnectome.org/docs/Lifespan%20Task%20Psychopy%20output%20Data%20Dictionaries.html

The {TASK}_{SubjectID}_A_run1_stats.csv files contain summary statistics for in-scanner behavioral performance during task fMRI runs. EV files {EVENT}.txt files derived from the PsychoPy output contain precise information about conditions and their associated event timing. EV files are explanatory variables (predictors) in FSL format (3-columns: onset, duration, and amplitude of input).

Dear Jenn,

I really appreciate it, I will look into it!

Thank you for your help and for the overall effort behind the HCP data.

Best,
Feli
