Hello all,

I am following up on a question I had regarding the scanning protocol for HCPYA. As the scan sessions are typically broken into multiple days / visits, is there a standard amount of time between the day 1 scan and the day 2 scan (i.e. were they typically consecutive days?). Is it possible that more than 2 to 3 days could have elapsed since the day 1 scan?

Thank you for your assistance,
Rachel Custer

Hi,

One day between the two was probably “typical”, but you can’t rely on that.  Yes, for some subjects it is possible that the interval was 2-3 days (or more).

Cheers,

To add to what Mike said, for HCP Young Adult, most of the subjects were scanned on 2 consecutive days and their behavioral data was collected on those 2 days as well  (except SSAGA, which was conducted by phone in weeks prior to the visit).  As Mike mentions, there were some exceptions to this, but we do not have that data available since it would be potentially identifying in a family twin study like HCP.  However, the recruitment team did schedule all participants to do all their scanning/rescanning (if necessary) within 2-4 weeks.

We have a little more flexibility built into the HCP Lifespan Development & Aging studies imaging collectionsince young and old participants have more trouble with long scans and with scheduling in general.
