Hi,

Are eye-tracking data available for HCP 7T movie-watching experiment? I guess not, but wanted to double check.

It looks like there are raw data in the database.

Matt.

Oh, that is great! Can you point me to where I can find them in the directory structure?

Looks like it is here: ${Subject}/unprocessed/7T/${fMRIName}/LINKED_DATA/EYETRACKER

Hi Matt,

We checked the eye-tracking data for one run of one 7T subject. Everything seems to be clear. Just two follow-up questions:

1) In the info file, TRonset appears to be the start of scanning relative to the start of eye data recording. Could you confirm this?

2) In the data file, we can guess what the columns are based on what EyeLink usually reports. However, is the exact description of columns available?

Hi,

We are trying to download eye-tracking data of all 7T subjects using curl, but we can’t find the right path in connectomedb. It would be great if you provide us with a link.

Hi, just want to know if anyone knows the answers, especially the second one? I tried loading the eyelink data using fieldtrip. According to its documentation, "Channel 1 represents time, channel 2 is the horizontal x-coordinate, channel 3 is the vertical y-coordinate and channel 4 is the pupil dilation". But if so, the range of the x- and y-coordinates can be greater than the dimension of the movie frame (720 * 1024)? e.g. for subject 995174 movie 1, its gaze positions' x_min is -728.2, x_max is 1813; y_min is -758.4, and y_max is 1519.7?

Hi Yijun,

Could it be that the eye movements sometime go beyond the screen?

Thank you Reza for your reply. I thought about that, but because I had no experience with eye-tracking data, I asked some others who had experience, and they said it's not possible. Can someone from HCP confirm this? There's little relevant information available on HCP website so it would help future users.

Dear Yijun,

It is perhaps too late for a reply, but I would like to add additional information for future users.
I also see the values outside of the range as you reported. Some xAvg and yAvg are sometimes negative and larger than the resolution (1024 x 768). I am not sure why that happens, but when I plot the histogram of xAvg or yAvg, it seems that most of the values are in the correct ranges from 0 to 1024 for xAvg or 768 for yAvg. So, I guess we can crop the values outside of the range and use the data as it is.
Or if you found new information on this, posting here would be greatly appreciated by future users.

I think there are also some time-points with NaN values, which could be related to blinks or any other source of signal loss. One may want to exclude these time-points as well.

Hi Reza, Is question 2) answered? It seems reasonable the columns are based on what EyeLink usually reports.

Hi,

Yes, the columns are based on what EyeLink reports.

Best,
Reza
