Dear HCP Users Group,

I am an independent researcher (ORCID: 0009-0002-2186-1195) working on the Cortical Informational Field Theory (CIFT) program. I have registered on ConnectomeDB (username: dstjepovic) and accepted the WU-Minn HCP Consortium Open Access Data Use Terms for the HCP Young Adult 2025 dataset.

I am attempting to access the HCP S1200 Group Average myelination map via the AWS S3 credentials generated through the "Get/Reset AWS S3 Access" tab in ConnectomeDB. However, I consistently receive a 403 Forbidden error even with freshly generated credentials.

Specific error:
"An error occurred (403) when calling the HeadObject operation: Forbidden"

Bucket: hcp-openaccess
File path attempted: HCP_1200/S1200_GroupAvg_v1/S1200.L.MyelinMap_BC.164k_fs_LR.func.gii

Steps taken:
1. Accepted the Open Access Data Use Terms in ConnectomeDB
2. Reset AWS credentials multiple times
3. Used credentials immediately after generation

Could anyone advise on how to resolve this? Is there a propagation delay after accepting the Data Use Terms before AWS access is activated?

Alternatively, is there a direct HTTP download link for the S1200 Group Average myelination maps that does not require Aspera or AWS?

Thank you for your help.

Best regards,
Danko Stjepovic-Gonzalez

What tool (and version) are you using to access AWS?  The permissions on the root folders of our bucket may be set in an unusual way, so if the tool tries to do something special besides accessing the requested file or subfolder, it may break.
