Dear HCP Project Team,
I am a PhD researcher studying executive-function impairments in the context of substance use, and I am evaluating HCP data as a possible next step in my project. A colleague shared this contact email with me.
To decide whether to request access to the restricted HCP-Y dataset, I’d like to confirm the availability of specific SSAGA variables from the Cannabis/Marijuana section (Section F).
I reviewed the HCP-YA data dictionary (.xlsx) and found the following marijuana-related fields:
However, the SSAGA instrument includes additional items that are particularly relevant for abstinence/recency and intensity. I am especially interested in whether the following Section F items (wording per SSAGA coding) are available under restricted access:
Question:
Are data for these items (F2B, F2C, F2D) available to investigators through the restricted HCP-Y access process?
For context: I attempted to post this query on the HCP-Users forum, but it did not appear, so I am reaching out by email. Thank you in advance for your guidance.

Hi Evgenii,
You and your PI need to (in this order) register for an account on BALSA, sign the HCP-YA open access terms there (ConnectomeDB tab, under HCP-YA 2025), apply and be approved for Restricted Access and request the item-level SSAGA data for HCP-YA from me.
Best,
Jenn
