Dear valued member of the HRE USA community,
Thank you for supporting the Kirby Edmonds Fellowship Campaign. Whether you’ve already contributed or are still considering a donation, we are grateful for your engagement and excited to show you the impact your support can have.
This week, we are proud to introduce our Summer 2025 Edmonds Fellows and the powerful projects they are leading under the guidance of dedicated mentors. These inspiring young leaders are at the forefront of advancing social justice and human rights education, and we are proud to accompany them on their journey.
Meet the Fellows:
Carla Mory
Carla is a rising senior in the Dual BA Program between Columbia University and Sciences Po, where she studies Political Science and Human Rights. As the Fundraising Strategy and Sustainability Fellow at HRE USA, she has led the planning of this year’s Kirby Edmonds Fellowship Campaign, expanded the organization’s outreach efforts, and developed new strategies to ensure long-term sustainability. As a pre-law student hoping to pursue a legal career in human rights advocacy, Carla’s experience at HRE USA has strengthened her commitment to social justice and her belief in the power of youth to drive meaningful change.
Ava Kreutziger
Ava is an incoming sophomore at Columbia University, where she studies Human Rights and Education. Her work focuses on youth civic participation, queer liberation, and educational equity—areas she’s been passionate about through years of organizing in her hometown of New Orleans. This summer, she is working on expanding the Human Rights Education Now! Podcast. She’s helping co-host and edit new episodes, bringing in co-sponsoring organizations, creating outreach strategies to grow the podcast’s audience, and developing lesson plans so that educators can use the podcast as a resource for teaching human rights and freedom of expression.
Saah Agyemang Badu
Saah is a researcher and advocate dedicated to fostering equity and dialogue across global education systems. She’s currently working on the Training as Action Series (TAAS). This national program brings together educators, youth leaders, and community organizers to explore how human rights education can respond to some of today’s most urgent issues. This summer, Saah has led the evaluation of the 2024–2025 TAAS cycle and is now designing the 2025–2026 series, which will tackle topics like misinformation, protest rights, digital surveillance, and climate justice, all through a human rights lens.
Pranav Raju
Pranav is a high school student from Texas, a 20 Under 20 Global Young Leader, YMCA Youth board member, and T1D advocate. Through this fellowship, he launched a statewide Family Priorities Survey to hear directly from Texas K–12 families about what they value most in education, including academic priorities, student support, and learning environments. He’s also distributing a Human Rights board game across the Dallas–Fort Worth area and recently presented it to educators from over 85 schools at the World Affairs Council’s Global Classroom workshop.
How You Can Help
If you haven’t donated yet, there’s still time to make a difference. The campaign runs through August 1, and every contribution, large or small, directly supports hands-on learning, mentorship, and leadership development for the future 2026 Edmonds Fellows.
