The Town of Hopkinton seeks an Assistant Treasurer/Collector

Under the direction of the Treasurer/Collector, the Assistant Treasurer/Collector performs skilled administrative, technical, and financial work assisting the Treasurer Collector and Finance office in all areas of responsibility including billing, collection, treasury, debt management, maintenance of accounts and other financial records. The role requires tact and discretion with a flexible and cooperative approach in performing moderately complex administrative duties.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Three (3) to five (5) years of related experience in business, accounting, or a related field; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience in state or municipal government preferred.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Knowledge of principles and practices of financial management and bookkeeping.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing with various audiences including public officials and the general public.
Proficiency in technology including Google G-Suite in a business setting, accounting/financial software, and online research.
Customer service skills.
Skill in Munis accounting and finance software, preferred.
Knowledge of statutes and regulations related to municipal finance, and legal controls over municipal finance in the Commonwealth, preferred.
Licensing/Certifications: Must be able to qualify for and maintain a surety bond (at Town expense); Certified MA Municipal Collector (CMMC) and Certified MA Municipal Treasurer (CMMT) designation preferred.
