The Town of Hopkinton seeks Plow Drivers (Per Diem)
The Town of Hopkinton seeks Per Diem Plow Drivers to support the Department of Public Works during the winter season (typically December through April). This is a temporary, on-call position that reports to the Highway Manager.
Work involves operating Town-owned trucks and equipment for snow and ice removal, performing manual labor related to plowing operations, and assisting with other winter maintenance tasks as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years of experience driving and operating CDL-type motor equipment and snow plowing; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Satisfactory driving history.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
Knowledge of Hopkinton town roads;
Ability and skill in sanding and plowing town roads during snowstorms and other winter weather;
Ability and skill driving equipment and vehicles, including trucks and loader;
Ability to lift branches, heavy supplies, plow blades, etc.; assists during winter weather-related emergencies as required;
Ability to assist in maintaining the equipment being used, and to perform or assist with winter storm-related vehicle repairs and plow blade changes;
Ability to plow for lengthy duration storms, including pre-storm preparation and post-storm cleanup.
Licensing/Certifications:
Valid Massachusetts Commercial Driver’s License (CDL Class B) preferred, but not required.
Hoisting License (2B), preferred, but not required.
