The Town of Hopkinton seeks a Health Services Agent

Under the direction of the Health Director, the Health Services Agent is responsible for department-level environmental health services following the policies of the Board of Health and Health Director, involving administrative and inspectional work. Performs the administration of the Town’s public health program to include the enforcement of state and local public health laws, rules, and regulations, the processing of applications, and issuance of permits and licenses, and the maintenance of records. The position reports directly to the Health Director, assisting the Director with administrative duties; serves as Director during his/her absence.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in public health or a related field and three (3) to five (5) years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Municipal experience preferred.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Knowledge of state laws and regulations pertaining to public health, housing regulations, and sanitation.
Working knowledge of inspection and control issues, soil evaluation, food service management, and water treatment.
Knowledge of building codes and construction issues, food preparation, and storage equipment.
Knowledge of MAVEN (Massachusetts Virtual Epidemiologic Network) is preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
Ability to interpret legal documents, including statutes, regulations, and building plans.
Proficiency with computers and Google G-Suite in a corporate/office environment and other related financial programs, email, internet, data entry, report generation, and spreadsheet formatting. Excellent planning, organizational, customer service, business math, and negotiation skills.
Licensing/Certifications:
Possession of a Valid U.S. Driver’s License
Certified Pool Operator, preferred
Certified Food Protection Manager, preferred
Certified Soil Evaluator, preferred
Certified Health Officer, preferred
MA Certified Title 5, preferred
