The Town of Hopkinton is seeking an experienced and motivated professional to serve as our next Working Foreperson in the Water & Sewer Division.

Full Salary Range: $34.44 – $45.08 per hour

Hiring Salary will be determined in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement and based on the selected candidate's qualifications, experience, licenses, and certifications.


Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM – 2:30 PM. Willingness to work overtime is required. Participation in an on-call rotation and response to after-hours and weekend emergencies is required.



This hands-on leadership position is responsible for supervising and working alongside Water & Sewer Division personnel in the maintenance, repair, construction, and operation of the Town's water distribution and sewer collection systems. The successful candidate will help coordinate daily operations, oversee projects and contractors, ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, and assist in maintaining the reliable delivery of essential public services.


Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum four (4) years of progressively responsible public works or utility maintenance experience, including experience working with municipal sewer systems.

  • Valid Massachusetts Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class B with Air Brake Endorsement.

  • Hydraulic License 2B.

  • Massachusetts Wastewater Treatment Operator Municipal Grade I (M1) license, or ability to obtain within one year (Town-sponsored).

  • Massachusetts Drinking Water Distribution Grade I (D1) license, or ability to obtain within one year (Town-sponsored).


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Supervisory experience in a municipal or utility environment.

  • Municipal water and sewer experience.

  • Associate's degree in a related field.

  • Massachusetts Drinking Water Treatment Grade I and II (T1/T2) licenses or ability to obtain within one year (Town-sponsored).
