The Town of Hopkinton Seeks a Heavy Equipment Operator for its DPW Department

This position works under the supervision of the Highway Manager and operates a variety of motor driven vehicles and equipment including trucks with a rated capacity of more than 26,001 lbs. G.V.W. (Gross Vehicle Weight), tractors, road sweepers, etc. in the provision of public works services; performs all other related work as required.
Qualifications - Applicants must meet the following to be considered qualified for this position:
High School Equivalency and one to three (1-3) years of experience operating equipment and trucks in construction and maintenance work.
Knowledge of procedures used to operate and maintain heavy equipment; occupational hazards and safety precautions.
Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with staff and management; execute verbal and written instructions; be able to prioritize and complete multiple tasks at the same time with frequent interruptions; utilize email software and a smartphone.
Skilled in the operation and maintenance of heavy motorized equipment including operating equipment over rough and unstable terrain; use of power-driven hand tools.
Must be able to operate heavy motor equipment as required such as backhoe, front-end loader, street sweeper, sander, and plow, in accordance with department safety procedures.
Preferred licensing and certifications:
Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B
Hoisting Engineer License, Class 2B or greater
