The Town of Hopkinton seeks a Water Sewer Manager

Under the direction of the Public Works Director, the Water Sewer Manager supervises and participates in the daily management, technical oversight, regulatory compliance, administration, and operations of water/sewer pumping stations, sewer collection systems, water distribution systems, water/sewer treatment systems, water storage tanks, and related systems and facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate degree in a related field or equivalent technical education and a minimum of five (5) to ten (10) years of progressively responsible related experience, including supervision of staff; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Specialized knowledge and training required to diagnose, repair and maintain complex mechanical and electrical pumping equipment; Municipal sanitary operations/drinking water experience preferred.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Thorough knowledge of the design, construction, and operation of the water and sewer systems.
Knowledge of hydraulics and water main construction practices, telemetry and the hazards and safety precautions involved in water and wastewater treatment and distribution construction and repair work.
Knowledge of the local, state, and federal water and wastewater treatment regulations, including state and federal pollution control regulations.
Ability to interpret specific chemical and biological analyses and to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and plans.
Ability to enforce regulations.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing with various audiences, including public officials and the general public.
Ability to use a computer to access and manage the SCADA system from a remote site and department-related equipment.
Ability to remotely monitor and control water and sewer systems via multiple web-based platforms (e.g., Mission 123, SmartCovers, iHydrant, Logmein, etc.)
Computer skills that encompass effective use of word processing, spreadsheet, presentations, email, internet browser, and accounting/financial software. Proficiency with Google G-suite preferred.
Knowledge of procurement processes.
Ability to lead and direct the work of others.
Excellent budgetary, planning, and organizational skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Licensing/Certifications:
Massachusetts Drinking Water License Grade II Distribution and Treatment
Massachusetts Wastewater Treatment Operator Municipal Grade I
Massachusetts Class D driver’s license
