Under the general supervision of the Human Resources Director and the Town Clerk, the Administrative Assistant performs moderately complex, varied and skilled administrative work to assist the Human Resources Department and the Town Clerk's Office in their respective functions, dividing time equally between each department. The role requires handling details, each varying in substance and content, and requires the individual to approach the workload with flexibility. This role provides support to the daily operations of the Offices requiring confidentiality, tact and discretion in a flexible, collaborative, and cooperative work environment. Due to the customer service nature of this position, regular attendance in the office is required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school equivalency and two years administrative assistant experience in an office setting or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Human Resources experience preferred.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
Knowledge of general administration and contemporary office practices.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with various audiences including public officials and the general public.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, determine priorities and meet deadlines in a fast paced office environment.
Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records; maintain knowledge and skill in utilizing software programs.
Skills - organizational, writing, interpersonal/collaborative communication, resourcefulness and discretion.
Computer skills that encompass effective use of word processing, spreadsheet, accounting, email and internet browser software. Experience with Google Workspace preferred.
