School Committee Vacancy Announcement
The School Committee currently has one vacancy and the Town is seeking candidates for the position. The term of office will expire at the May 2025 annual town election.
The School Committee is an elected board, whose members serve three year terms. The School Committee powers and duties are derived from the Massachusetts General Laws. As outlined in the Town Charter, the School Committee powers include:
To appoint a superintendent, and other officers as allowed by the general laws, to fix compensation and to define their duties, make rules concerning their tenure of office and to discharge them,
To make all reasonable policies consistent with Massachusetts General Laws or Department of Elementary and Secondary Education regulations for the administration and management of the public school system and for the conduct of its own business and affairs;
To adopt and submit an annual budget request.
