From Elaine Lazarus, Town Manager: Age and Dementia Friendly Community
Many of you may know that the Town of Hopkinton is part of the Age and Dementia Friendly Community initiative. I recently attended a Dementia Friends Information Session at the Hopkinton Senior Center. The goal of the sessions is to help us understand how dementia affects people and how we can each make a difference in the lives of people living with the disease. It’s part of an overall goal to make Hopkinton a safe, nurturing and inviting place to live and work for seniors, people living with dementia, their loved ones, and caregivers. The program was very interesting and informative, and we learned some little things we can do to make a difference. Not only was the information presented in a great way, but it fostered a really nice dialogue among those present.
The Town has been involved in this initiative for a few years and many Town employees and residents have attended Dementia Friends sessions. The next session is scheduled for Thursday, October 10, 2024 at 7 pm at the Hopkinton Center for the Arts.
