Please be advised:

Water Main Break – Claflin Place

Crews are currently responding to a water main break on Claflin Place.

To facilitate repairs, the water main serving Claflin Place has been shut down. Customers in the affected area will experience a temporary interruption of water service while repairs are completed.

We anticipate the repair work will take approximately 4 to 8 hours, although this timeframe may change depending on field conditions.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to restore water service as quickly and safely as possible.

Notice: Claflin Place Temporary Water Main Bypass Installation

Please be advised that, due to an irreparable water main failure on Claflin Place, the Water and Sewer Department has retained a private contractor to install a temporary above-ground water main bypass to maintain water service to residents during the replacement of the existing water main.

Work Schedule

  • Date: Monday, July 6
  • Time: Beginning at 9:00 a.m.

The temporary bypass will be supplied by a connection to an existing fire hydrant on Commonwealth Avenue and will extend along Claflin Place. As part of the installation, the bypass piping will also cross the nearby bike trail.

Traffic and Trail Access

  • Commonwealth Avenue will remain open to traffic throughout the work.
  • The bike trail will remain open and passable.
  • Any roadway and trail crossings associated with the temporary bypass will be clearly marked, properly coned, and protected to provide safe passage for motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians.

The temporary bypass is a critical part of the project and will allow uninterrupted water service to Claflin Place residents while the Water and Sewer Department replaces the deteriorated water main.

We appreciate the public's patience and cooperation as we complete these necessary improvements to the Town's water infrastructure. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Water and Sewer Department.

Public Notice

Ash Street Drainage Project & Hayden Rowe Road Reconstruction Project

Please be advised that the Water & Sewer Department will perform two water main test shutoffs on Thursday, July 9, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

As part of the Hayden Rowe Road Reconstruction Project, the water main will be temporarily shut down on Hayden Rowe Street between 103 Hayden Rowe Street and 139 Hayden Rowe Street (at Chamberlain Street). This will be a brief shutdown to verify the isolation of the water main.

Additionally, as part of the Ash Street Drainage Project, the Water Department will conduct a temporary test shutdown of the water main on Ash Street between 15 Ash Street (at Park Street) and 32 Ash Street (at Fenton Street). This will also be a brief shutdown to verify the isolation of the water main.

Residents in both project areas may experience temporary water discoloration following the testing. If you notice discolored water, please run only your cold water tap until the water clears.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we complete this important work.
