July 4 - Independence Day

On Saturday, July 4, Hopkinton will celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with a parade and awards ceremony. The theme of this year’s festivities will be “Hopkinton Celebrates America’s Birthday”. The parade will begin at 11 a.m. next to Center School then proceed along Park Street, Hayden Rowe to Hopkinton High School, Grove Street, Pleasant Street, Main Street, and finally Ash Street by Center School. After the parade, the following awards for parade floats will be given from the gazebo on the Town Common:

  • "McIntyre" Best Family Award
  • Most Patriotic Award
  • Best Performance Award
  • Most Creative Award

An award will also be given for Best Parade Route Decorations.

Any person, group, organization, business, family, or neighborhood from Hopkinton is welcome to participate in the parade. Participants are urged to stress positive, family friendly messaging. There is no charge to join the parade. Those who cannot join the parade are welcome to gather along the parade route to watch. Unlike previous Hopkinton parades, this event will be water free to promote safety and protect historic uniforms and costumes. Candy and trinkets may be handed out to parade watchers along the route, but nothing will be thrown from trucks or floats. A limited number of chairs will be provided near the corner of Routes 185 and 35 as well as on the Common for people who require them. The rain date will be Sunday, July 5 at 1 p.m. To sign up to be in the parade or to find out more, please visit https://www.HopFourth.net.  The signup deadline is June 30. This event is sponsored by the Veteran’s Celebration Committee with assistance from the Hopkinton Republican Town Committee and Hopkinton Democratic Town Committee.

Elmwood School Study Committee - Resident Interest?

Elmwood School will be turned over from the School Department to the Town/Select Board following completion of the new Charleswood Elementary School. The decision as to what the future of the building and the 19.3 acres of land will be is an important one. At this time, we are interested in determining whether there is resident interest in serving on a study committee that will consider the options for Elmwood School.

Are you interested in serving on a town committee that will conduct a planning process that includes community and town department outreach, and ultimately recommends a plan for reuse and/or disposition to the Select Board for the building and the property? If so, please indicate your interest at this link by July 15: Elmwood School Study  At this time, the intent is just to gauge the level of interest.

Hopkinton Hazard Mitigation Plan and Survey

Charitable Fundraising - 2026 Boston Marathon - Hopkinton Invitational Entries

For several years the Town has been extremely fortunate to receive invitational entries to the Boston Marathon from the Boston Athletic Association (BAA). The Select Board distributes the entries via a random selection process to local nonprofit organizations and to town entities that perform Marathon-related functions. This year, 52 invitational entries were distributed to organizations, which in turn raised a total of $542,853.56 for charity. This program has been a great benefit to local nonprofit organizations and the community. The list of organizations is below. Well done!

A new shared-use path will connect Hopkinton High School (Field 11) to Chamberlain Street, creating a safer way for students and residents to walk, run, and bike through our community. “This project is an important step in strengthening connectivity across Hopkinton,” said Trails Committee Chair Peter LaGoy. Construction begins in June - stay tuned for updates and photos.
