Important Notice - CodeRed Emergency Notification System

Crisis24, the vendor behind Hopkinton’s CodeRED emergency notification system, recently experienced a nationwide cybersecurity incident affecting communities that use the service. The issue was isolated to Crisis24’s CodeRED environment; the attack was against CodeRED, not the Town of Hopkinton.

CodeRED is a voluntary system where residents may create an account to receive emergency alerts. As part of the incident, some user data - including phone numbers, email addresses, and passwords used for CodeRED accounts - may have been exposed.

Crisis24 has taken the affected system offline while they migrate all municipalities to their new platform. At this time, subscribers cannot log in or change their CodeRED passwords. Out of an abundance of caution, residents who may have reused their CodeRED password on other websites are encouraged to update those passwords on the other services.

The Town is monitoring updates from Crisis24 and has been in contact with the Commonwealth's State Police Fusion Center. This incident does not affect the federal Emergency Alert System (EAS), which remains fully operational.
