From the Hopkinton Sustainable Green Committee - Energy Savings:

With the recent snow and cold, many homes have been dealing with icicles and ice dams. Ice dams happen when too much heat leaks into the attic and melts the snow, which refreezes at the edge of the roof. Their root cause is poor insulation, but there is a fix! MassSave offers free energy audits and big discounts on insulation upgrades - saving energy, saving money, and saving homes from ice dams. Get started at Mass Save.

Town electric ratepayers have saved over $50k in just the first quarter since the implementation of Hopkinton Power Choice, as covered by the Hopkinton Independent recently: Hopkinton Today for Tuesday, Feb. 3: Town sees early savings from Hopkinton Power Choice program

HOP Youth Attend Youth Power Summit:

Hopkinton Organizing for Prevention (HOP) Youth brought four Hopkinton High School students to the Youth Power Summit at Worcester State University, hosted by The 84 Movement, a statewide youth-led advocacy organization focused on tobacco and vaping prevention. Students participated in leadership and advocacy workshops and connected with peers from across Massachusetts who are leading youth-driven change. In March, HOP Youth will continue on their advocacy journey and travel to the Massachusetts State House to meet with local legislators.

Tuesday, February 17 - Artful Connections

Musician Ben Keyes and Poet Amy Asherah are the hosts. Each evening in this series features a host who kicks off with a presentation, performance, and discussion relevant to that evening's theme and the host's work. Then, guests can add their words, music, and art to the conversation. Refreshments are available; the event is free and open to all. At the Hopkinton Center for the Arts, 98 Hayden Rowe, 6:30 pm.

This series is a collaboration between the Hopkinton Freedom Team and the Hopkinton Center for the Arts, with support from Riverside Properties, the Massachusetts Cultural Council, the Hopkinton Cultural Council, and Hopkinton Youth and Family Services. For more information, see the flyer below or the Hopkinton Center for the Arts website: hopartscenter.org
