Dear HomomorphicEncryption.org community,

From our previous communications you probably know that ISO/IEC member nations were recently voting on starting a new work item ISO/IEC 18033-8 (Fully Homomorphic Encryption). We are excited to say that the ballot passed with overwhelming support on August 31 (there were no votes against), which means we have now time until 2024 to complete a new international standard. This is a huge step for HomomorphicEncryption.org and a validation for what many of us have worked very hard for. We should all be proud of ourselves and especially of the healthy, friendly, and supportive research and developer community we have created over the past years.

The next step for HomomorphicEncryption.org is to become an ISO/IEC liaison organization so the community can be properly involved going forward. It turns out this is not a very complex process, and we have already started looking into how to make it happen. We will keep you all updated with any new developments.

Best,

Kim and Ro
