I hope this message finds you well.
I am writing to this mailing list on behalf of the cryptology department at the Cyberagentur, a German institution founded in 2020 by the Federal Ministry of the Interior and the Federal Ministry of Defence. (See below for more information about us.)
The aim of the Cyberagentur is to provide funding for research projects and businesses in the field of cybersecurity. This is done by means of public tenders where researchers can apply with their ideas; successful applicants will obtain a 100% funding for their proposed project. The partners of Cyberagentur are not limited to Germany – indeed, we’re collaborating with people from (almost) all over the world. Last year, we funded a pilot study concerning use-cases for FHE in the public sector.
Now, we are planning our next, multi-year public tender on "encrypted computing" (that is, technologies in the field of FHE, MPC, functional encryption, and alike), and in preparation of this tender, we would like to talk to some industry representatives that might become bidders and/or contractors in this project ahead.
Kindly find the attached Non-Binding Cost Estimation for Research on Encrypted Computing that can be shared with interested groups, companies, and researchers.
About us
The Agentur für Innovation in der Cybersicherheit (Engl. „Innovation for Cybersecurity”) was founded in 2020 by the Federal Ministry of the Interior and the Federal Ministry of Defence to address the growing need for enhanced cybersecurity and related key technologies. The agency's mission is to fund and facilitate research and innovative solutions that improve Germany's/Europe’s cybersecurity and work towards its technological sovereignty. Its research themes are identified through trend and scenario analyses and demands from law enforcement and defence. Based on these inputs, the agency awards contracts for ambitious research projects aiming for radical technological innovation. The agency follows a "high risk, high reward" approach, pursuing ambitious research projects with high innovation potential, even if the outcome is uncertain. Through its conscious decision to focus on risky projects, the Cyberagentur enables researchers and businesses to pursue unconventional and innovative approaches that might not have been possible otherwise. As a result, the Cyberagentur helps to ensure that Germany/Europe continues to play a leading role in the cybersecurity and can effectively address future challenges.
