Hi all,
By Feb 10: Public call for new members.
March 1: Applications from the community are due. Applications comprise a CV and a cover letter.
By March 20: We meet to discuss candidates.
By April 1: We submit votes for new members.
On or about April 1: We invite new members to join.
After new members join: Departing members formally leave the board (unless they resign prematurely, which anyone is free to do at any time).
Voting is done by a ranked ordering; more details as we get closer. As per our bylaws, there is an upper limit of 14 board members. Board members who are not applying to renew their own seat are eligible to vote.
If you are considering resigning from the board, now is a convenient time, as an empty seat now means we have more room for applicants. You can choose to resign effective at the end of the selection process; this will mean you will be able to vote on the new slate of board members.
Terms last for three years; members can re-apply only once. That is, there is a two-term limit. After you take at least 6 months off, you're free to apply again.
The following board members have their terms expiring:
- Scott Conley
- Chris Dornan
- Richard Eisenberg
- Edward Kmett
- Ryan Trinkle
If anyone on that list wishes to keep their board seat, they must re-apply (with a CV and cover letter) by the normal deadline of March 1.
According to our rules, the Board Secretary runs the selection process. Andres, are you available to orchestrate this? I'm sure we can find the old calls for applications. (For those of us interested in re-applying, that call will contain pertinent details we'll need.)
Thanks, all!
Richard
