new freebsd version 15 changes the setup of freebsd ,
in this case, ports management also is changing,
how hardenedbsd will be affected from this?
what we gonna go?

because when i want to run # freebsd-update fetch install it gives error like,
freebsd-update is incompatible with the use of packaged base.  Please see
https://wiki.freebsd.org/PkgBase for more information.

have a nice day. thanks for help.

HardenedBSD does not support freebsd-update. Instead, use hbsd-update.
We do provide experimental pkgbase repos. However, it is currently not
possible to use pkgbase with the installer (bsdinstall) in
HardenedBSD, even though the option is there.

So, the pkgbase experiment is even more experimental for us than what
FreeBSD considers their experiment.

I'm hoping to get some time in February to implement support for
pkgbase in our installers. This will be in conjunction with us also
building VM images (direct request by 0x1eef, useful for his
HardenedBSD GitHub Action Runner project.)

This stuff just takes time. Thanks for the patience. It's probably
pretty obvious to say that if folks want better time frames, we'll
probably want to see more code contributions. :-)

Thanks,

I would like to contribute the codes but i feel hbsd documentation needs some updates, sometimes, i encounter problems but i may not find solution in documentations, i need to look emails, or need to ask on git.
if you can help about or documentation about, how to standalone be a part of hsbd code contributer, because your mind is different than other people, when i first started to use hbsd i was so helpless,
i also tried my old configurations which i use for my freebsd setups, but i got response from you on git, that i am using some special configs for compilers or such other things, and then i understood you.
so i changed my path to understand hbsd better. but sometimes you are changing sysctl configs and when i update the hbsd after that i encountered problem about port installation because your default sysctl change for security not known by me ,
because when i need to update the whole system i trust people that system will not change the settings or something to stop me doing regular tasks to do.
so, we need better documentation and better information to understand for any updates and changes,
because most of the people update their operation systems, without thinking big changes will be done when they update their os.

i understand that it will take time for you, i respect you. i wish i can help.

I'm sorry to hear your frustrations. We do have documentation in our
Wiki: https://git.hardenedbsd.org/hardenedbsd/HardenedBSD/-/wikis/home

Our documentation is probably around 97% complete, so there is some
missing information.

The wiki can be cloned with git:

git clone https://git.hardenedbsd.org/hardenedbsd/HardenedBSD.wiki.git

If you feel documentation is missing, you can add that repo to your
hbsd gitlab account. You would commit and push your changes to that
repo you just created. Once you're satisfied with your changes, feel
free to ping me off-list and I'll review/merge your changes in.

Thanks,
