Hi all,

In the next few weeks, I have to set up a new firewalling distributed
architecture distributed between two cloud providers and a VPS provider.

For the VPS side I was thinking to use OPNsense due to some
unexperienced BSD people needs to manage firewall rules ...

But the last email sent regarding the HardnedBSD's status has piqued my
interest.

Will hbsdfw be relased with a community version?
It is completely based on HardenedBSD?
Can we expect same features (more or less) like in OPNsense or pfSense?

Thanks,

hbsdfw = OPNsense + HardenedBSD

The project is new, it brings hardening on top of OPNsense. We hope to
get help from the community to add more features.

Thanks.

hbsdfw is an open source sub-project of HardenedBSD, primarily because
I want my own perimiter firewall to run HardenedBSD and I like the
UI/UX of OPNsense. :-)

hbsdfw is based on HardenedBSD 13-STABLE and OPNsense. You can find
the repos related to hbsdfw at [0].

One thing that I would love help from the community would be to add in
OPNsense plugin feature support. We use the DynFi build scripts[1] to
build hbsdfw. Missing from those build scripts is OPNsense's plugin
support. OPNsense's plugins repo is at [2].

In order to support in-place updates of hbsdfw, I need to get the
package repo situation sorted out. I need to do some additional
testing internally to determine how the package repos should be laid
out (and synced).
