Dear Fellow DXer:
2025 is now the 5th season since the pandemic stopped all kinds of activity. DXpeditions have been on the rise since then.
NCDXF funded 12 grants in 2025 totaling over $250,000. DXpeditions funded by your foundation in 2025 included: V73WW; VK9XU/VK9CU; VU4AX; ZS8W; FP5KE; PJ6Y; and 3C2MD. The Foundation also provided significant funding for the early 2026 3Y0K effort; we’ve also funded CY0S for 2026.
Youth support continues to grow. Gregg, W6IZT, took a largely all youth team PJ6Y team to learn DXpeditioning ropes on the island while even more youth operated the next gen RiB to learn remote operation. From all reports, this was a huge success. Thanks Gregg. Separately, V73WW was, apart from one op, a full youth DXpedition. We continue to fund scholarships for all youth students at Contest Universities.
Meanwhile, AA7JV started working on a 2nd generation of the RiB (Radio in a Box). This will be lighter, easier to use, and better for DX-peditions to take along. RiBs have the potential to open otherwise closed entities to DXpeditions.
Sadly, notable DXers became SK this year. We particularly remember Anna, W6NN – YL of Rich, KE1B, an NCDXF director. Our condolences to Rich. RIP Anna.
Other DXers who became SK in 2025 include:
Charly, K4VUD
Dennis, K7BV
Lou, N2TU
Joe, N6MM
Dave, NE5EE
Odinn, TF2MSN
Bob, W5OV
Dick, W6KM
Toshi, JA1ELY
Others who we have inadvertently omitted
We extend our deepest sympathies to the families and friends of every DXer who passed away this year. While the community has lost significant talent, and leaders, we take heart in the younger ops who are coming up and are preparing to provide DX into the future.
NCDXF continues in its mission to fund and support well-organized DXpeditions to desirable DXCC entities. Another part of our mission is to support the advancement of DXpeditioning skills, technology, and infrastructure. Your continued support and donations make this possible.
Please consider a donation to NCDXF. Visit: http://www.ncdxf.org/pages/contribute.html. One option for donations is the use of an annual Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) from an IRA in accordance with tax laws and regulations. Another option is participating in our Cycle 25 Fund as part of your estate plan. The foundation has been the benefactor of several estate plans. If you have achieved HR Status, or still striving for Honor Roll, chances are that NCDXF support of DX-peditions has made that achievement possible. What better way to acknowledge your achievement by contributing a dollar amount (or more!) equal to your DXCC count!
We will recognize those who so donate on our website.
73 and hope to hear you working 3Y0K in 2026!
Kevin, K6TD
NCDXF President
