Looking for assistance with connectivity

Hello,

I am looking to connect with someone to discuss a connectivity issue.

Specifically, I need to connect a handheld CB. I know CB/HAM are different but I’m assuming connectivity is similar. 

I am leaving on a cross country motorcycle trip soon and the tour group uses CB radios for communications. Since my new bike doesn’t have a CB I’m looking to use my old handheld Midland unit for monitoring. I set it up with another less portable unit and a car unit. Even with the squelch set I get a ton of static when receiving a transmission. Because of their age and lack of use, it could be my CBs themselves. Since I'm testing from inside the house to outside the house I do not have antennas mounted, just sitting on the counter or the stubby on device antenna.
