NCDXF Awards $10,000 Grant to KP5 Desecheo Island DXpedition – January 2026

The Northern California DX Foundation (NCDXF) is excited to announce a

$10,000 lead grant supporting the upcoming KP5 Desecheo Island DXpedition,

scheduled for January 2026.. Official permission to land on Desecheo and

operate has been granted.

Otis, NP4G approached us as the leader of the DXpedition with a plan to

utilize remote operating. NCDXF has been a supporter of this idea and an

advocate for allowing ham radio to places not normally accessible. KP5

is also a top 20 DXCC entity and qualifies for the “Make DX Happen” award.

Otis has assembled a team to test the concept and get the radios on shore

and operational. He has been supported by RHR with all their technical

expertise and experience. A back up scenario has also been planned in

case of issues on Desecheo. Complete information is available on their

The mission of NCDXF is to provide financial support for well-organized

DXpeditions to desirable DXCC entities and to advance DXpeditioning skills,

technology, and infrastructure. These efforts are made possible by contri-

butions from supporters in the DX community.
