The election for the ARRL Southeastern Division Director is approaching.  In an effort to keep our members informed, we are providing a candidate profile for Tom Schaefer, NY4I.  Please note that this email is for informational purposes only and does not constitute an endorsement by TARC or its board.  All candidates are being provided an opportunity to share their background with our members.

My name is Tom Schaefer, NY4I, and I am running for the ARRL Southeastern Division Director. 

In my 44 years as a ham, amateur radio has given me so much that I continually look for ways to give back. This is why I am running for the position of Southeastern Division Director. I love ham radio—whether it’s chasing DX, hunting POTA stations, CW contesting or all the other fun things we get to do.  As part of that love for ham radio; long ago, I joined the ARRL. While I’m one of its biggest fans, I am also enough of a friend to the ARRL to say we do have some things we need to fix.
