Did you know?

Bouvet Island is recognized by Guinness World Records as the most
remote uninhabited place on Earth.
The closest humans aren’t on land at all, but astronauts - including
amateur radio operators - aboard the International Space Station, orbiting
just about 200 miles overhead.
--
Discovered in the South Atlantic by explorer Jean Baptiste Bouvet de
Lozier on 1 January 1739, Bouvet Island is an uninhabited Norwegian
dependency. It lies around 2,600 km (1,404 nautical miles) from the
nearest inhabited place – Tristan de Cunha.
--
In just a few short weeks two dozen humans will land on Bouvet to offer
the Amateur Radio community the rare opportunity to communicate with
people living on the island.
Will you be one of them?
Stay tuned for further updates on this momentous occasion!
See you in the pileups
