Hurricane Season Prep

I tested my three generators this week:  Westinghouse WGEN 9500, Coleman Powermate Pro-Gen 5000 (circa 2003) and my little Predator 2000…… I did a carburetor clean on the Coleman and it ran fine after the clean job….getting ready to make my initial fuel purchase at WaWa E0 ethanol free (20 gallons) … … will be checking our food supplies, etc……just three days until the start of the 2026 Hurricane Season ….. remember the Boy Scout Motto “Be Prepared”.

ok… since I live directly on the Gulf of America in Saint Pete Beach, I have to be a bit more to prepare for than the average. My living area is 12 feet above sea level but that didn’t save me from the flooding of Helene in my really nice air-conditioned garage. Lost a less than one year-old Lexus SUV and bronco, also my gun safe which is not waterproof about 20 long Guns…I had to completely clean & rebuild all over a six month Period.

Since the living area is 12 feet above sea level we had no damage there. 

My house is built with all Cat 5 windows, doors and roof so I’m not really concerned about the wind. The flooding is a much bigger issue being right on the Gulf.

Also, we have a all house Generac with automatic transfer and propane in the ground for about two weeks operation.

This year not supposed to be as bad because of the El Niño or whatever.

I bought a Bluetti portable battery pack to run refrigerators and lights during a grid failure. I have a Firman Generator but also a Tesla MY and Bluetti Charger that can attach to the Tesla low voltage battery to top off the Bluetti Apex 300. 

There are small battery packs with inverter to run refrigerators as well. 

Lots of battery devices that eliminate the need to run a gas generator continuously during a grid failure.
