Hacksburg Events in December and January!

     Hacksburg has another fun set of classes planned! Here's our schedule up to the end of January:

Metal Casting: December 12 from 1:00PM to 4:00PM

Make your own sand cast Aluminum object at our casting class! Sand casting is an exciting process that’s very accessible to the hobbyist. Ages 16 and up; wear all cotton/leather/wool clothing and long pants. Minors will need to have parent/guardian supervision for the entire duration of the class. $5 for non-members, free for members.

Woodworking 101: January 9 from 1:00PM to 5:00PM

Attendees will have the opportunity to make a wooden storage box. The project is designed to utilize almost all of the woodworking tools Hacksburg offers and provide a great introduction to woodworking. This class will be $30 for Hacksburg members and $35 for non-members. Ages 16 and up.

Vacuum Former Work Day: January 16 from 1:00PM to 4:00PM

This event will be a day for members and the community to help us get our new vacuum former operational. This is not a class, and there is no event fee or RSVP required.

Smart Home Alone!: January 23 from 1:00PM to 4:00PM

Smart outlets and home automation are becoming more popular every year, but these devices are often lacking some advanced features and have undesirable connections to the Internet. In this class we’ll show you how to take control of your own smart outlets using software like ESPHome and Home Assistant. Bring your own Raspberry Pi or use one of our demo setups. This class will be $5 for non-members and free for Hacksburg members.

Foam Armor Basics: January 30 from 1:00PM to 4:00PM

Learn the basics of costume design from our award winning instructor. The basics of costume design in fabric and foam will be covered, along with plenty of time for open discussion and questions. Sample foam will be provided. This class is for attendees age 14 and up.
