Hacksburg received the following new equipment since the last email:
  • Old Singer sewing machine is fully functional!
  • PrimeWeld AlphaTIG 225XL. Thank you to PrimeWeld for the discount on this 225A AC/DC TIG welder, and thank you to Riley for the donation!
  • Shop air compressor. Among the many uses of shop air, this means that the sand blasting cabinet is functional! Thank you to Rendyr for the donation!
  • Rotary A axis for the milling machine. Thank you Richard E for the donation!
  • Many cordless power tools. Thank you Richard M for the donation!
  • 10 ton shop press. Thank you to VT Kelly Hall for the donation!
  • Manual and CNC Sherline lathes. Thank you for the generous donations!
  • CNC Model 2010 Sherline mill. Thank you to CytoRecovery for the generous donation!
  • Onefinity X-35 Woodworker. Thank you to Onefinity for the generous donation!
  • Anything else I forgot!
We sincerely thank everyone who donates time, money, and equipment to Hacksburg. You keep the organization growing and allow us to more completely fulfill our mission of offering a community workshop. The metalshop is considerably more fleshed out, and we now have a lot of CNC capacity.

Hacksburg is a non-profit Makerspace located in the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center. Started in 2014, we're a community workshop focused on enabling creatives and entrepreneurs in the New River Valley to complete projects that would otherwise be out of reach. Hacksburg is meant to be an accessible, collaborative, and affordable resource for building anything from rockets to robots to rocking chairs. No RSVP required.

Sunday, September 18, 1:00PM to 4:00PM, Resin Printer Basics

Normal filament-based 3D printers are capable of making an incredible array of parts, but for high-detail miniatures our new resin printer is capable of over 10x the resolution. Learn how to use the Hacksburg resin printer, what parts work best, and how these machines differ from filament-based printers. Free for members and $5 for non-members. Ages 14+. Sunday, September 25 from 1:00PM to 4:00PM: Sand Casting 101
