Hello,

My name is Charlie and I have an eleksmaker style laser engraver/cutter that I have put GRBL on and am having an issue with sizing and mainly speed for the motors, it seems like it goes so much slower than it should. I have a full version of Lightburn and have seen that both the laser and printer you have run on the same software so I was really hoping to find support. I live in Cburg and am willing to pay a monthly donation for support if possible, I have had it sitting around for so long and wanted to cut cardboard which it is perfectly capable of at 3.5 W laser.

What sort of speeds does Lightburn predict, what are you getting in practice, and what are you seeing online from people with comparable hardware?

Hacksburg's main laser is an 80 W CO2 (IR), and based on recent tests I'm finding that in practice it takes about 15% longer to run a job than Lightburn estimates.  We currently get speeds of about 55 mm / sec to cut 1/8" basswood, and for super-lightweight material like thin felt or paper can cut at up to 300 mm / sec.  As a very rough estimate, I'd assume you'd get speeds of roughly 3.5 / 80 that (1/23x), although I'm guessing in that power range you've probably got one of those deep blue / near UV LEDs, which will have different material interactions.
