Pumpkin Chunkin' Interest

To All:

     In cooperation with the Corporate Research Center, Hacksburg will be running a Pumpkin Chunkin' competition for the first time on Halloween this year. Anyone can form a team to make a trebuchet or catapult. Teams will be judged on their accuracy hitting a target with a roughly 4 lb pumpkin 60-150 feet away (rules will be finalized on October 1). We're very excited about the potential for this to be a fun event!

I want to help plan the event

I want to make a trebuchet/catapult

Good to hear! Anyone can assemble a team, and we will also likely have a "house" team building a trebuchet out of our own scrap wood. There will be a team registration fee. Talk to your friends or come to our normal Tuesday meetings to talk about forming a team. Official event rules will go out on October 1. Team registration will be open around that time as well.

I want to volunteer as event staff

Thank you! Please email rs...@hacksburg.org and tell us you want to volunteer as an event staff member. Event staff will include queuers to get teams to the firing line, range safety officers to control the pumpkin landing zone, and many, many other roles. Volunteers will receive event t-shirts.
