Our Space is mainly supported by members.  We have divided the memberships up into Tier Levels so everyone can have a choice as to what kind of member they wish to be.

Tier 1 - $20 a month and gets you access to the space. 11-7 Mon-Fri 1-5 on Sundays.  A Tier 1 member is for those that want access to the space to build the things they want to build and have the opportunity to learn from others by sitting around and talking to them or by working on group projects with everyone.  Classes are also available to Tier 1 members.

Tier 2 - $40 a month.  The benefits of this membership allow you the following.
  • Access to the space during business hours
  • Ability to bring guests to CHAMP - Tier 1 can do this also but is very limited.
  • Tier 2 comes with a locker to store things in.
  • Ability to leave projects at CHAMP while working on them - Tier 1 has to bring them home at the end of the day.
  • Voting rights for electing officers to the board of directors.
  • Ability to hold classes that you can charge money for.
  • Bench rental to keep all your tools and projects on. (this is 100% hands off by all other members)
  • Ability to have a key for any time access
A Tier 2 membership is a privilege not a right.  Not all Tier 1 members will be promoted to Tier 2.  This is due to the following reasons.  A Tier 2 member differs from a Tier 1 in the dedication to the space.  (yes we do have some VERY dedicated Tier 1's I am just saying that a Tier 2 HAS to have the following.

A Tier 2 member is:
  • willing to teach others
  • willing to go to events like first fridays and maker faires.
  • willing to grab a vacuum and sweep the floor or take out the trash even though it's not their mess.
  • willing to repair a tool even if it costs them money out of their own pocket.
  • willing to run to the store for TP or paper towels
  • willing to help out other members on their projects if possible

Tier 3 - $30 a month.. yes you heard that right it's less!!  Why?  A Tier 3 member is a member who has dedicated themselves as a Tier 2 member for 12 consecutive months. We feel that after a year of hard work you deserve a break!

A Tier 1 member can and some do posses all of the above but can also choose to stay a Tier 1 member - we won't hold this against you :)

We could make it like tenure at university. We only accept say 1 tier 3 person per month, and a committee looks at all of the achievements that person has had while they were tier 2. If there are two people who want to become tier 3 in the same month, we can give it to the more dedicated member.

As of Feb 2018 we have a new system!

Probationary members $60 for 3 months.  This gets you access to the space any time someone is there with a key.  After 3 months you can apply for a tier 1 membership or pay another $60 for 3 months.

Tier 1 members - $35 a month gives you key access to the main project room.  You can still use the other rooms if a tier 2 or 3 is there.

Tier 2 members - $50 a month.  gives you key access to main room, cnc/laser cutter room, wood and metal shops. (you have to be tested on equipment before use)

Tier 3 members - $45 a month. same as a tier 2 but you save $5 a month.  You have to be a Tier 2 for at least 1 year with no late payments.

We had to raise prices to cover costs of utilities.  This is as cheap as we can make it and still pay bills.
