Your thoughts on internet bridges

Hi, sorry if this is a naive newbie question, but what are your thoughts on being able to bridge local meshes via internet gateway nodes?

Would it be feasible, for example, to connect to a mesh via an internet gateway using Remote Access VPN? Or use a VPN on each to unite two meshes into one, as you can with LANs?

We've thought about adding this functionality, but we're not quite
there yet.

Thanks a lot, Bryce. I thought perhaps VPN might allow concerned folk outside an emergency zone gain easier access to those inside, and maybe also allow access using unrooted Androids (?)
