New xenon chemistry:
Xenon perovskites - Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 54 doi: 10.1002/anie.201506690 (something similar might exist in the Earth's crust!)
The XeOXeOXe dication - J. Am. Chem. Soc. 137 13398 doi: 10.1021/jacs.5b08765 (decomposes below room temperature but still surprising)
Xe hexafluoride forms bonds to the N of acetonitrile - Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 54 14169 doi: 10.1002anie.201507635 (really wacky bonding)
These can be accessed at many college libraries (to locate an article from the doi go to www.doi.org).

Isolation of a compound (stable above room temperature) containing the
pentazole (ring of 5 N atoms) anion:
Science Vol. 355 Issue 6323 p. 374 Jan. 27
science.sciencemag.org/content/355/6323/374
doi: 10.1126/science.aah3840
(A 5-nitrogen cation was previously known; it has a V shape
(isoelectronic with cyanogen azide). It's unlikely the salt of these
two can be prepared.)

The Sept. 2 issue of Bloomberg Businessweek(!) is a special issue on the elements - recommended.
