“iWILL ‘til i’mWELL: Empowering Wellness from Within”
Presenter: Dr. Jillandra “Jill” Rovaris, Ph.D.
Chief Executive Officer, iWILL ‘til i’mWELL Medical and Counseling Services

In this inspiring and interactive session, Dr. Jillandra “Jill” Rovaris invites attendees to explore the deep connection between personal willpower, professional purpose, and holistic wellness. Drawing from nearly 40 years of experience in psychology, higher education leadership, and community mental health, Dr. Rovaris introduces her signature wellness philosophy—“iWILL ‘til i’mWELL.” This approach emphasizes the power of the individual (“iWILL”) to take intentional steps toward healing and wholeness (“i’mWELL”), even amid workplace stress, compassion fatigue, and the demands of service-based professions.

Recognizing the unique pressures faced by Black veterinarians and professionals in animal health, Dr. Rovaris discusses the psychological impact of systemic inequities, the weight of representation, and the challenges of maintaining emotional resilience in caregiving roles. Through reflection, conversation, and empowerment exercises, participants will gain practical tools to cultivate mental, physical, and spiritual well-being—both personally and professionally.

Key Topics Include:

  • Understanding the iWILL ‘til i’mWELL model as a framework for mental and emotional resilience
  • Navigating burnout and compassion fatigue in veterinary practice
  • Balancing identity, service, and self-care in high-stress environments
  • Integrating faith and cultural identity into a sustainable wellness plan
  • Building supportive networks and communities of healing within the profession

Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify both personal and systemic factors that affect their wellness and professional fulfillment.
  2. Apply self-reflective techniques to strengthen resilience and emotional regulation.
  3. Create personalized strategies aligned with Dr. Rovaris’s “Journey In Life and Living (JILL)” model to enhance overall well-being and performance.

This session offers a space not only for learning but for restoration—empowering Black veterinarians and allies to reaffirm their purpose, renew their energy, and commit to the ongoing journey from will to wellness.
