Hear! Hear! Frostee Paws all around! Make a delicious treat for your guide dog today! Whirl together in blender: 32 ounces vanilla yogurt (one large-size supermarket container, the kind with live cultures preferred);  one ripe banana; two Tablespoons peanut butter; and two Tablespoons honey. When well blended, pour into 13 3-ounces  paper cups (or use ice cube trays for smaller treats), and freeze. A happy day for you and your guides! Penny and Yara

This week we celebrate the remarkable assistance dogs who help millions of people around the world live fuller, more independent lives. Whether they guide, alert, retrieve, interrupt medical events, provide stability, or perform countless other life changing tasks, these extraordinary partners remind us every day that independence is rarely about doing everything alone. It is about having the right tools and the right teammates beside us.

For me, that journey has been deeply personal.

Over the years I have shared stories about the guide dog experience through articles including An Open Letter to Puppy Raisers and reflections on my partnership with Boaty. Each dog has taught me something different about trust, patience, confidence, resilience, and unconditional partnership.

A guide dog is never just a mobility tool. They become a coworker, a traveling companion, a source of laughter, a quiet comfort during difficult moments, and often one of the greatest teachers we will ever know.

To every puppy raiser, instructor, trainer, veterinarian, staff member, volunteer, donor, foster family, and supporter who helps make these partnerships possible, thank you. Your work changes lives in ways that cannot always be measured.

And to every assistance dog, working today or enjoying a well earned retirement, thank you for every curb, every doorway, every airport, every adventure, every challenge overcome, and every step taken together.
