Moon Phase Waxing Crescent

Singing in the air. Green things hanging everywhere.

Lights blinking. Pass things by and they start singing.

Pretty dangling things.

Sometimes it all gets too much and with all the people too, I lose my way.

Mother is at times, a bit confused, her direction she does lose and then, things really start going wrong.

People forget. It’s a problem with lots we’ve met. They don’t mean to make trouble, and I hate to burst their bubble, but it would be best if people simply spoke to my mother. Don’t touch us when we’re moving, let us be.

If you’re waiting at the elevator getting on or off, speak please, you’re invisible if you don’t talk.

Mother and I will be active. Give us a hello shout, but no touchy please. All hands freeze. Remember, even at the bakery ask before you pet me.

No matter what you think, doing so without asking really does stink. As I get older, head over the top of the peak sometimes I just wanta goof off, I must keep in line.

Mother’s ears now are not working right, so sometimes it’s a fright, but we put our skill together, and we overcome.

So, let there be singing in the air, greenery hanging here and there, toys singing with joy as we pass by.

Let the piano play. Let the voices rise.

Let dancing ensue. Celebrations held by me, you, and all who love to be happy and smile.

Just remember, Chief Blue is working, and though he’s smirking, he’s off limits until we’re seated and ready to visit or participate a while.

Thanks so much. This holiday stuff is, at times, a little too much.

Sing, Blink, and Jingle Oh! My! – It’s Holiday Time!

Backstory…

Each year our apartment building turns into a holiday wonderland! We decorate everywhere!

It is a joyous time here. We’ve two pianos and a wonderful gentleman who plays a mean guitar.

People break into songs and dance a lot, and there are a ton of parties and dinners happening each month.

This time of year, this is ramped up to full power! And we love it all. However, Blue’s Goof – A – Door comes out bright and shiny as Rudolph’s red nose and keeping him on track is a scream!

Then there’s the continuing ear saga and well, the poem tells the tale.

Al I can advise is keep hold of your dog, smile and remember in all the excitement other than a very few, no one means any harm.

For now, this is Team Blue saying, “Keep your nose to the ground and your tail waving at the sky.”

*Note*

The day after Blue and I wrote this poem which was inspired by my getting lost in the lobby I learned that I’m losing my hearing. It is not due to the sinus issues I’m having. I have cochlear damage and significant hearing loss in both ears. I will return to the speech and hearing center on December 17th for a hearing aid consultation.

Patty and her guide dog Blue. Patty has her hair tied back in a low ponytail and rests her right hand on Blue's head. She wears a white shirt with a pink and purple butterfly on the front and light blue shorts. Blue is a handsome black lab. He wears a brown leather harness with a handle attached to the back and is smiling at the camera as he sits in front of Patty. In the background is a brick building with white, windowed doors and a flowerpot overflowing with pink and yellow blooms.

About Chief Seeing Eye® Dog Blue Fletcher…

Chief Seeing Eye® Dog Blue was born in Chester New Jersey, October 4, 2018.

After only 8 short weeks, he was taken from his dog mother and given to a puppy raiser family, where he would live and train for the next year.

When the year was over and he’d passed all his tests with flying colors, he went to live at The Seeing Eye® Guide Dog School and there he began to learn the rest of what he must know to become a Seeing Eye® Guide.

After a few months of arduous training, he was matched with his human mother as her second guide.

Now, he lives in the mountainous land of Bristol Virginia where whether working in harness guiding his mother safely from place to place or gnawing a bone to bits is always on the case.
