 | It’s not always obvious when our pets are hurting. In fact, animals often hide their pain, which makes the signs easy to miss. Some are noticeable, like limping or yelping. Others are more subtle, such as sleeping more than usual, seeming less playful, or changes in litter box habits.
September is Animal Pain Awareness Month, a reminder to watch for these clues and talk to your veterinarian if you think your pet may be in pain. And remember: never give your pet human medications, since many can be toxic.

2nd Annual Concert for Canines & Their Companions |
Please join us on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM ET at the 25th Street Plaza for our second annual “Concert for Canines and Their Companions.” This fun, feel-good event is a perfect opportunity for you and your dog to relax and spend some quality time together. Bring your dog and enjoy the enchanting sounds of The Dolphins String Quartet from The Juilliard School. Be sure to pick up some helpful pet health resources to keep your dog thriving. And don’t forget to stop by the photo booth for an unforgettable keepsake! This is a free, in-person event. 8th Annual Celebration of Life |
We warmly invite you to our 8th Annual Celebration of Life, a time to come together to remember the pets we’ve lost and the lives we shared. Join us as we honor our beloved animal companions, find comfort in community, and hear from author Victoria Schade. Brynne Baizer, AMC’s full-time Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), will also share words of reflection.
The program will include a Candle Lighting Ceremony. If you would like to participate, please have a candle ready. We will conclude with our Pet Memorial Slideshow. Photo submissions for our Pet Memorial Slideshow are now closed. This is a free, online-only event hosted via Zoom. The Zoom link will be emailed to all registered participants the day of the event.
