The next Sui v1.72.1 upgrade for testnet is now available. This release includes protocol version 124, which will activate at the next epoch boundary once 83.4% of validators by stake have upgraded. Thank you!
🔔 Note: Heads-up for fullnode RPC operators (testnet 1.72.1): this release bumps the rpc-index DB version to 4 (sui PR #26403). If you run a fullnode with gRPC indexes enabled, plan for re-indexing on startup. The node will be completely unavailable while it runs - no RPC traffic served and the health check endpoint will not respond, since DB initialization happens before the HTTP server starts. Adjust orchestration timeouts and alerting accordingly. Duration depends on object history - on our nodes it took roughly 30 minutes. No action required beyond accounting for the extended startup window during your upgrade.
