We are pleased to announce the release of Akatab and Tirra 4.100. Changes include:
- Fixed a composite reference for the ligature of YAB and LABIALIZATION MARK
- Added the Tirra font family, a Neo-Tifinagh subset of the Akatab fonts
The Akatab font family uses state-of-the-art OpenType font technology to provide accurate typography including the formation of bi-consonant ligatures. Variations of characters are included in the font to meet personal and regional preferences. Documentation included with the font package will show these variants and how to access them. Historically the Tifinagh script has been written in both right-to-left and left-to-right orientations. Akatab has the necessary characters and features to write in both directions.

The Tirra font family is a new free and open font family for current languages that use the Neo-Tifinagh alphabet. It supports all of the Unicode characters for the Tifinagh script. It also includes a set of common Neo-Tifinagh ligatures that combine certain base characters with the Labialization Mark. Smart font routines automatically produce these ligatures.
