Hello, John, this is Dave Barker, parent of a Sagamore Hills
Elementary School second grader, and responsible for this Sagamore
STEM Group from which you've received unwanted activity.
Your request is a great opportunity for me to clarify how I
think these new Sagamore
Groups should be used. I'll be addressing "you" in this
message, but please understand I'm speaking to anyone with
concerns similar to yours, so I'm including the STEM Group and
others in on this message, and I invite anyone to respond.
You can stop receiving messages from this Group by following
the directions at the end of these Group messages.
Alternatively, you can change
how often the Group emails you (if you have a Google
Account associated with your email address).
If you'd like lower-traffic, "top down", one-way STEM communication, you can visit the school website's STEM Weekly Update, or subscribe to the PTA's weekly newsletter (Wildcat Update).
I think though, this Group should be chatty—a place where
teachers, parents, and others from the community interested in
STEM at Sagamore, can freely and easily share experiences,
ideas, and enthusiasm.
After your request that the STEM Group not 'reply all', the
Group missed out on multiple replies to the
MaKey MaKey discussion because they were addressed only to
me instead; replies about experiences with related apps,
questions about how more students might get involved, and
general expressions of support. Those are just the kind
messages I think should be shared in this Group.
John, please don't feel attacked; you've been the catalyst for
a necessary discussion about this new avenue of communication
for the Sagamore Hills Elementary School community.
If you, or anyone, have something to add, please 'reply all'! ☺
Sorry to ask but I wondered if y'all may please 'reply' rather than 'reply all.' Thank you.

Last week my wife, Jeanie, introduced Ms. Quinn's second grade instructional class to Interaction Design, an element of her profession field. She brought along 4 "MaKey MaKey"s (make anything into a (keyboard) key), a variety of materials, handouts and worksheets, and had the students apply the STEM Design Process to creating a game controller for kindergarteners.
I saw excitement from both students and staff, and I think the school may be getting their own MaKey MaKeys.

Thank you. Sometimes we old people need updating, freshening, and repurposing. I'll join the fray!
