Dear Parents,

I don't want to ruin anyone's surprise, but please remind your little gardeners to thoroughly water their "project".  The oasis will absorb much of the water and needs to be saturated.

If you ordered a Garden Club t-shirt, it should have come home with your child today.  If there is any problem just let me know and we will try to work it out.  I don't have any more children's shirts, but I do have a few adult sizes left if anyone would like to purchase one.

We have planted hundreds of plants this Spring and we will need some help watering and weeding over the summer.  If you would be willing to help, or more importantly would be willing to organize a "Garden Helpers" group, please let me know.  It would be great if we could get something organized soon, as some of our new plantings are already looking sad.

Thank you so much for allowing me to garden with your children this year.  It has been so wonderful watching them get so much enjoyment from working with the plants and of course playing in the dirt.  😊  I hope that they will join us again next year.   If they do any gardening at home over the summer, please send me some photos.  I also want to thank all of the volunteers, as you know, we could never have done this without you!  Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Happy Gardening! 🌹

Mrs. Quinn,

I have already submitted our request to have the Captain Planet Foundation come out again this summer to provide garden maintenance. We will still need a group to help with mowing, weed whacking and other things. I would love the opportunity to organize this group...knowing that our work will begin once school ends. Let me know.

I'm always up for summer mowing and weed whacking. I am going to fix the second mower (it has a gas leak) and would be willing to help get a mowing group going this summer.

Ella and Rose have loved the garden club again this year. They have really brought all of the learning home to our little 10x10 garden in the front yard. We ate our first steamed broccoli we grew and the cabbage you sent home is huge now. If only my kids would eat cabbage other than coleslaw with a pound of mayo.  I also very much enjoyed the kale they brought home. It's really opened their eyes. And Nathan now eats carrots thanks to seeing them come from his school garden.

Thank you for everything you have done and for the amazing gift yesterday.

Keep us on the email list for summer garden work days. We will help where we can.

Parents - the PTA funds some of the materials and the rest came from the tireless efforts of Michelle Olsen and friends working to get donations from around and major cost reductions up to 80% off list. We anticipate next years costs at around $2000 for the year ($500 a quarter). Please consider telling Mrs Quinn or a board member of other grants/donation resources we can tap into for STEM garden club to reduce the reliance on parent donations to reach our budget goals.

Happy gardening!

Kind Regards,
Michelle

Finn and I would love to assist with watering, weeding and any other garden tasks this summer.  Please add us to the list.
