All,

To update you on the status of the Sagamore Hills Foundation, I have registered the entity with the Georgia Secretary of State and have filed the Articles of Incorporation. A Notice of the same has also been sent to The Champion newspaper for publication. I have also applied for and received the Federal Employer Identification Number (EIN) for the Foundation.

I believe the next steps are:

Preparing the By-laws
Conduct an Initial Meeting of the BOD to replace the nominee directors with elected directors, appoint officers, ratify Articles of Incorporation, adopt by-laws, discussing opening bank account and indemnify directors, etc.
Apply for Federal Tax-exempt Status (must happen with 15 months of filing Articles of Incorporation)
Apply for Georgia Tax-exempt Status (must have IRS determination letter to apply)
Apply for Georgia State ID number
Register as a Charitable Organization (if required based on revenues)
Obtain business license

I can get a blurb going for this Sunday's SagaMORE announcements and also make flyers for next Thursday's packets to drum up interest.

How many people will we need for our board? What are the positions? Any other details that you think would be good for blurb, please let me know.

In fact, Sheri, could you write a short, very basic paragraph that explains the foundation? 

Sagamore Hills Elementary Foundation.. SHEF? :)
