[Fundraising of PTA at Sagamore Hills Elementary School]

This is what I've gathered from Shannon... I think we need a teacher to be involved with each or a level 3 volunteer with complete background check etc. It's a start!! 

Please let me know if I need to add anything, start smaller, or just see if we have a teacher for any of these and go from there. We could make a full list and put the most desirable at the top/bold. I'm not sure who usually heads this stuff up so I'm happy to handoff if preferred.

SHES Clubs

Garden Club: there was a lower and upper club... Mrs. Law ran the lower club in the past.

STEM Club: there was a lower and upper club

Dance Club: outside company

Running Club: in the morning... Mrs. Moehlich ran it in the past.

Odyssey of the Mind: grades 3-5, parent led, teacher sponsored, Mrs. Lambert ran in the past but does not want to do it this year. Best if run by Gifted teacher.

1st Lego League Robotics: older kids, Julia Harrison ran in the past.

Sea Perch: Underwater Robotics

Math Club: met in the morning, parent let, teacher sponsored

Chess Club: outside company

Chiefs Soccer Club: outside company

Art Club: run by Little Rembrants

Spanish Club: run by World Language Institute

This is great!

Mandy Whitfield is the teacher sponsor for running club.  finalizing the permission slip that will go out soon—goal to start 9/14 and do every Wednesday at 7am.  If anyone wants to join even if it’s not every week I’ll take it!!

Thanks for putting this together Nichole!  I'm not sure PTA has really been involved in these in the past (except running club?) - they've just evolved organically over the years based on parent/teacher interest.  PTA (and other parents) probably need to get involved now to get them back up and running.  

Just as a reminder - all of these have been suspended since Dr. Williams has been here (she started June 2020), so she doesn't have personal knowledge of what was done in the past.  It will be helpful if we can rally parents to start requesting these things.  The more the better!

I talked to a couple parents at the bus stop today about clubs. One parent has a second grader and didn't know about any of the clubs/activities that used to be available.  So, I think the more we can talk it up, the better!

Another parent has a kid at Henderson and said they're bringing back after school activities this year.
